Andrea Kitchen

Dear Families, Students, and Staff,

I am humbled and honored to be named to the Assistant Principal role for Ramay Junior High School for the upcoming 2019-2020 school year. This year begins my 17th year in education, and my 12th year in Fayetteville Public Schools. FPS is simply the greatest district ever and I am thankful to have the opportunity of playing a small part in helping students rise to their greatest potential and to be the best they can be in life.

I have served as a teacher for grades 3,4,5, and 6 with much of the time being spent as a Reading / English Language Arts teacher. For the last several years, I was overjoyed to teach 6th grade ELA at McNair Middle School, here in FPS, and in the past I’ve served grades 3,4, and 5 at Asbell Elementary School.  Outside the classroom, I’ve served on curriculum committees, presented nationally at The Schools to Watch Conference, participated in various teacher-leadership district capacities, and I’ve had the privilege of helping students succeed by bringing best practices for teaching and learning to the classroom. I have enjoyed my work in all areas during my time here in Fayetteville Public Schools.

As an educator, I remain dedicated to promoting a positive learning environment for all students, and I am excited to support the vision and leadership of our school district and that of Ramay Junior High. Supporting and working with Mr. David Watkins, our Principal, and Mr. Ryan Gorman, Assistant Principal, will be an instructional privilege as we support student learning and achievement together. I am confident we will continue to provide our students with an enriching and rigorous school experience.

A little about me, I grew up in Columbia, Missouri (graduating as a Hickman Kewpie!- the only baby mascot in the nation), and I have lived literally all over the world as my husband served in the military (Go Army!).  I hold a Bachelor's degree Business Management- Human Resources, a Masters in Curriculum and Instruction, and an Education Specialist in Leadership from Arkansas State University with Building Principal Certification. I have been married for 29 years to the fabulous Dr. Todd Kitchen, Sr., and we have three wonderful adult children (Brianna, TJ, and Adriana). I remain grateful for all their support and encouragement in my career as an educator. In my spare time, I like being outside on sunny days, reading, riding my bike, and being involved in the community.

I am looking forward to meeting each of you soon. Please feel free to call the office at (479) 444-3064 and remember to stop in and say hello as my door is always open or to email me at Andrea.kitchen@g.fayar.net. If there is anything I can assist you with, please let me know. Have a safe, relaxing, and enjoyable summer!

Sincerely,

Andrea Kitchen, Ed.S
